-   A GIS takes the numbers and worlds from databases and puts them on a map.
-   GIS allows people to use their existing data in new ways
-    Putting data on a map helps you ask questions like: where, why and how with locational information in mind.
-   With geographic knowledge you can make better decision.
-    GIS is a key tool in determining what's "all" means.
-    GIS helps to find places that we are looking for.
-    GIS helps to see the relationships between places.
-     GIS helps to simplify a large number of feature on a map.

Services provided by the Department:
-         Issuing site plan.
-         Issuing and providing maps and plans.
-         Provide data about all existing and proposed utility lines such as electricity and water.
-         Provide statistics and spatial analysis services.
-         Provide Base map and administrative boundaries.
-         Provide leveling data.

      Benefits of GIS:

combining the processes of inquiry and Query for database, observing , analyzing  and processing of geographic data from maps and satellite images and aerial photographs, this  feature uses in many applications for the interpretation of events and calculate the indicators, and putting strategies

·        Cost saving.: before workforce is used in the laboratory in the mapping and coloring , but by using  the system it become easier to do so , reducing  the cost ,  effort and time

·        Reduce production time and improve accuracy:.the system producing  maps in less an hour instead of more than a day  by the human in the past and also it led to reduced errors in the production of maps that result  by human  as a result  of the weather and fatigue nerves and psychological state

·        The system provide Better geographic information, Better decision making and Improved communication
