Information system of AAM

According to the survey questions, we went to Al Ain Municipality and we interviewed Salama Al-Daheri in the IT department and we asked her several questions about the information system that used in the institution, and the result was as followed.

The first question was about the size of the information system whether it is (departmental - organizational - inter organizational) ?

And the answer was the at Al-Ain Municipality they have different information systems for different purposes , for example they have an (ERP) which stands for (Enterprise Resource Planning ) that covered the finance, accounting , human resource, procurement, this is the (ERP) that they are working on. Also, they have building permit which covered the approving drawing for the new buildings, evaluation for the contractors and many other things. The third information system which is land management that has all the information of Abu Dhabi land properties and land lords and process any transaction on the land which include (selling and buying the land) .

And most of these system either organizational or inter organizational with other municipalities in the emirate of Abu Dhabi .

The second question was about the type of information system that the institution use (TPS, MIS, DSS, and EIS)?

The answer was that they use two types of information system which are TPS and MIS.

According to TPS they have a routine tasks that related to the organization such as  gathering the information of the land properties and land lords and  process any transaction on the land like (selling and buying the land) which happening in the land management .

In the MIS they organize and summarize the displayed information such as approving drawing for the new buildings and evaluation for the contractors which happening in the building permit.

The third question was about the type of data, information and knowledge that used in the organization?

The type of data that used are : citizens , lands , customers , projects , parks , roads , strategies and many other data that is related to the municipality operations .

As for the information , each system will translate the data in to information for them and  the key word is (relation) between tables. For example, one table is for citizens and other table for lands how to like citizen to the land with identification number to give you information for example: Mariam have the land number 14 in Sarooj . 

However the knowledge base is still not achieved, because the knowledge is (Information fact), the knowledge is something they get it by experience or by result from a diagram, for example the citizens that will take land in this land they most likely will build two levels or they will buy farms after 6 months. Currently they are trying to implement business intelligent system that takes the data and information and give them diagram and tell them  this area you want to increase the citizens in make mall in it for example and dash board for this purpose , on the other hand they have on going project for knowledge management process .
